Guilt-Free Pancakes

I love all things breakfast but my mom is a "healthy helicopter" (a phrase my little brother coined) and so pancakes are a rare food at my house.

Luckily, I discovered a healthy pancake recipe and all it takes are:

- 2 eggs

- 1 (ripe) banana
- A pinch of baking soda
- A pinch of cinnamon OR a dash of vanilla extract
- Optional: half a handful of blueberries or chocolate chips

All you do is mash the banana (very, very well) in a bowl and beat in the eggs (this step can also be done in a blender). Add the cinnamon/vanilla, blueberries/chocolate chips and baking soda and wait five minutes. This gives the baking soda time to do it's thing and produce fluffy pancakes. Then pour a spoonful of the mixture into a hot skillet (as you would normal pancake mix), cook, flip, remove and repeat!

This recipe makes a small stack that is great for one. I've found this mixture cooks very quickly so you can probably do the stack of pancakes in five or so minutes.

I add the vanilla and chocolate chips because it takes away the subtle egg flavour that my sensitive palette notices. I also add maple syrup because I'm a Canadian with a massive sweet tooth.

Hope you guys enjoy the recipe and tell me what breakfast foods you guys love!

To Women, For Women

Although I want this blog to primarily be about beauty and lifestyle, I also want to use it as my platform to the world; to convey my thoughts and what I feel is important.

Recently my interests have gravitated towards women's rights and equality. So this post will be simple: a short poem that I love that reminds us that women are powerful and wonderful and aren't defined by men's (and other women's) views of them.

What do you love about being a woman or (to men) what do you love about women?

Review: Ultrabland Facial Cleanser

The Ultrabland Facial Cleanser was my first Lush product and the main reason I bought it was because I was tired of using make-up wipes and wanted something a little more environmentally friendly. I read reviews and finally made the plunge and forked over CAD 29.95 for the larger pot of the cream cleanser.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

Firstly, I thought the price tag was a bit too steep. I was always a run to Wal-Mart and pick up a Neutrogena face wash kinda girl and I wasn't accustomed to spending 3 hours of work for soap (I price things according to a state-of-the-art method I invented known as "The Number of Hours I Would Have to Work to Afford This". It's supposed to make sure I don't spend too much money on one thing but, clearly, doesn't work).

To use this, you:
1. Take a small dollop and massage it onto your dry, made-up face.
2. Wet a face cloth with warm water and wipe the cleanser off.
3. Look at your face cloth with shock and horror as you realize how much make up you slathered on your face this morning.
4. Realize how moisturized and smooth your skin feels.
5. Smile.

What I love about this cleanser is that it is so moisturizing. It really balanced my skin out and I didn't feel the need to apply moisturizer or oil after using it. It was especially great during the summer because my skin wouldn't be shiny and greasy from the additional moisturizer. I know this quality is what others may not like about this product; when I first used this, I felt like the moisturizing property made my skin feel unclean rather than hydrated. But once you get used to this feeling, it's all good.

Lush Side

I would definitely be buying this product again and I encourage you all to try it out. Let me know what other Lush products I should try out!

*I have combination skin with a slightly oily T-zone all year round  and dry spots around my mouth/chin during the winter.
